Statement: The President Can’t Stop Lying About Medicare for All

President Trump penned an Op-ed this week attacking supporters of Medicare for All, claiming that they were going to “eviscerate Medicare” and threaten American seniors.

This is, of course, a lie. Medicare for All would expand Medicare benefits, including coverage for dental and vision, lower prescription drug prices, and give beneficiaries the ability to visit any doctor or hospital of their choosing. It would dramatically improve healthcare for senior citizens while also expanding health care to every single person in the United States.

While Medicare for All advocates have been fighting for Universal Health Care, President Trump and Republicans in Congress have attempted to force through plans that put people with pre-existing conditions at risk, made major cuts to Medicare and Medicaid, and threatened to kick tens of millions off their health insurance.

“Insurance and pharmaceutical companies have spent years abusing our broken campaign finance system, and this is their reward.” Said Wendell Potter, a former health insurance executive turned advocate, who sits on the Board of Business Initiative for Health Policy “The President will parrot their talking points for them, no matter how much harm his pro-industry plans will do to the American people”.
